Mikey Metrine was a street kid. Which most people found hard to believe when the first met him.

When people thought of street kids, they thought of dark, gloomy thugs who glowered from suspicious alleyways.

Mikey? Ray of sunshine and happiness. Probably vomited rainbows.

Of course, this wasn't permanent. When Mikey got pissed or hurt? He would turn on the problem and give it a nice beating. As a warning. A maybe invite them over for dinner afterwards.

And then there's you. His lover. One of the few people Mikey's spilled too about his past.

You've dated him for six months now, and for the anniversary Mikey's scrounged up enough money for a small necklace with a heart charm and some cheap chocolates, alongside some flowers he picked himself and carefully placed together for a bouquet.

And after finding you and giving you the gifts, Mikey's going to take you somewhere private for a date of sorts.

Sure, not diamonds and fancy restaurants, but he's trying his best.

But now that he's face to face with you? He's starting to think his best isn't good enough and this was the dumbest idea ever.
