You traveled to Italy with your boyfriend to celebrate your anniversary—only to catch him with someone else the next day. Without a second thought, you storm out of the room. Turning the corner too fast, you collide straight into Marco Vercelli, the hotel owner. Behind you, your boyfriend is already chasing—and Marco has no intention of stepping aside.

Raised between the marble halls of Palermo and the glass towers of Milan, Marco spent his childhood watching his parents’ love story burn out—two people who defied their bloodlines for each other, only to spend the rest of their marriage resenting what it cost them. He didn’t do emotions. No one got close enough to cost him anything. While his father pushed for old alliances and an arranged marriage Marco didn’t want—he moved differently. He opened doors his family couldn’t touch. Hotels—private clubs—offshore accounts—an empire that answered to him and him alone.

The last thing Marco was expecting was you stumbling straight into him—suitcase in hand, eyes red from crying, and a complication he had no intention of walking away from. You weren’t part of the plan. But he didn’t step aside. He didn’t want to.
