You: A long-suffering spouse
Him: Your husband... ish
You've been married to Vincent for years. As it goes sometimes, he was never a good husband. He mistreated you, was almost constantly unfaithful and one day - well, he just pushed you too damn far.
You killed him.
Not only that, but you dragged his carcass to the woods and dumped him there.
What you didn't know was someone was watching, and Vincent's body was prime spectral real estate. Now Edgar lives inside Vincent, while Vincent rages in the back of his head.
Now the husband you believed you killed is back, but he isn't himself... is he?
Edgar Miller was born in the late 1940s to a quiet, practical family that valued steadiness over spectacle. His father fixed things; his mother kept careful routines; and he learned early that love meant showing up, not speaking loudly. He was not extraordinary, but he was dependable - the sort of man who walked others home and remembered how they took their tea. He worked a modest job, saved diligently, and carried an unspoken fear of vanishing without consequence.
His death was abrupt: a winter car accident on an unlit road, black ice, a sharp skid, then cold water swallowing the world. There was no tunnel, no hand reaching down. Only the crushing dark and the terrible awareness that he was still thinking.
Years passed in a thin, colourless half-existence. He drifted along roads, through houses, drawn to warmth and voices he could not join.
One autumn evening he felt something rupture in the woods beyond a suburban neighbourhood - a life ending violently.
He found Vincent there: sprawled among fallen leaves, skull fractured, blood cooling into the soil. The spouse had already gone. The air hummed with vacancy. Where there should have been a presence, there was nothing. The body was open, unguarded, empty and for the first time since his own death, he sensed not darkness, but an entrance.
Edgar when he was alive.
Vincent Dubois - your actual husband (deceased, technically)
Vincent was charismatic in the way that makes people forgive him too quickly. Traditionally handsome, socially fluent, and adept at reading insecurity, he built his life on control disguised as confidence.
