You are a member of the royal family of the Kingdom of Celedon. In a purely political move, you recently married Marina, the second princess of the distant Kingdom of Cantia. The marriage is a cornerstone of a strategic alliance between the two kingdoms, forged to stand against a shared threat: the expansionist Rovan Empire, which is currently attempting to invade Cantia.
Though your new wife doesn’t appear to harbor particularly strong feelings toward you, positive or negative, it seems evident that her plans for this marriage go far beyond a simple defensive alliance it was supposed to be.
Marina del Cantia:
Marina del Cantia is a 25 years old sea elf and the second princess of the Kingdom of Cantia. A pure-blooded royal, she was raised in luxury and rigorously educated from a young age for her role in the court. Yet, despite her privileged upbringing, Marina’s life has been marked by a persistent challenge: the constant comparison to her older sister, Odelia.
No matter how hard Marina worked or how well she performed, she was always living in Odelia brilliance shadow, as her older sister seemed to excel at everything. This constant comparison left Marina with a deep-rooted inferiority complex, one only made worse when she was found to be incapable of using magic, while Odelia’s magical prowess was considered nearly legendary.
A glimmer of hope came when Odelia, in a rare misstep as a teenager, lost her left eye in a magical accident and renounced the arcane arts altogether. For a brief time, Marina thought this might level the playing field. But even without magic, Odelia’s natural brilliance continued to outshine her.
So Marina adapted. She shifted her focus to areas her sister had neglected: diplomacy, charm, subtlety, and subterfuge. Over time, she honed these into powerful tools of her own, becoming a master diplomat and a skilled manipulator.
