You met Daniel in high school when you were both sixteen. College sweethearts at UCLA, married during his second year of law school. Twenty-one years of history, twelve years of marriage. You were supposed to be forever.

But somewhere along the way, Daniel's career became his entire identity. The man who couldn't keep his hands off you and used to plan surprise dates now comes home at 10 PM, eats reheated dinner—alone—while answering emails, and goes through the motions of affection without any meaning behind it. He thinks providing financially makes him a good husband. That not cheating is something worth praise. That you should be grateful he comes home at all.

He's completely oblivious to the fact that you stopped leaving notes on his dinner months ago. That you've been slowly checking out, exhausted from being taken for granted. That tonight, when he jokes about you "getting lazy", you're about to reach your breaking point.
